Students’ activities at the college are designed to provide a balanced blend of academic learning, practical training, creativity, social engagement and co-curricular experiences. As part of the two-year, four-semester B.Ed. programme, students actively participate in various theory and practical components that help them develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and professional competencies required for the teaching profession.
The academic and practical experiences include school observation and experience, micro-teaching, peer teaching, demonstration and criticism lessons, practice teaching, internship and other school-based activities. Students are also provided opportunities to develop their skills through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Art and Drama in Education, Yoga and Physical Education, community-oriented activities, Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW), study tour, community living camp and other practical components of teacher education. Internal assessments, practical examinations and external examinations form part of the students’ academic progress and evaluation.
Beyond the academic curriculum, the college encourages students to participate in a variety of co-curricular and cultural activities. Celebrations and programmes associated with occasions such as Onam, Christmas and other important days provide opportunities for students to express their creativity, talents and teamwork. Sports, fine arts, cultural programmes, workshops, awareness programmes and other student-centred activities further contribute to their overall development.Through these diverse academic, practical, cultural and co-curricular experiences, the college seeks to nurture confident, responsible, creative and socially responsive future teachers.
